Jakarta (ANTARA News) - China`s table tennis team dominated the Asian Games 2018 table tennis competition after they managed to pave their way through to the all-Chinese men`s and women`s singles finals at JI Expo Kemayoran in Jakarta on Saturday.

Cheng Meng of China advanced to the finals after crushing Jeon Jihee of South Korea 4-0 in the women`s semifinals, while Fan Zhendong of China moved on to the finals after outplaying Lee Sangsu of South Korea 4-1 in the men`s semifinals.

In the second women`s semifinals, Wang Manyu of China beat Yu Mengyu of Singapore 4-1, while in the second men`s semifinals, Lin Gao Yuan of China edged out Alamiyan Daronkolaei Noshad of Iran 4-0 to qualify for the finals.

President of the Singapore Table Tennis Ellen Lee Geck Hoon remarked that she was satisfied with the bronze medal won by her team in the women`s individual singles in view of the strong competition from China`s and South Korea`s teams.

"Wang played so quickly that Hu found it hard to follow. They had met earlier but China is always better," she noted.

Iranian table tennis coach Lotfollah Nasabi Jamil noted that Alamiyan had performed well.

"Yuan is better and stronger. He is looking forward to winning the game," he added.

Alamiyan stated that he was delighted to contribute a medal in the men`s individual singles for his country.

"I present this medal to my wife," Alamiyan remarked.
