Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo held a limited meeting with a number of related officials on Sunday night to discuss the reconstruction of houses damaged by a powerful earthquake in the island of Lombok on Aug 5.

The meeting was held near an evacuee camp in Gunung Sari sub-district, West Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara province,

the presidential secretariat`s deputy for protocol, press and media, Bey Machmudin said in a press statement.

Also present at the meeting were Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Social Service Minister Agus Gumiwang, West Nusa Tenggara Governor M. Zainul Majdi, Chief of the National Defense Forces Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Chief of the National Police General Tito Karnavian, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Board (BNPB) Willem Rampangilei.

The meeting was held after the president and entourage watched the television broadcast of the 18th Asian Games` closing ceremony at Gunung Sari soccer field in West Lombok.

At the limited meeting the president said he perceived the wish on the part of the affected people to rebuild their damaged houses according to their own desire.

He said the government will facilitate the wish, however, the Public Works and Housing Ministry will continue to supervise the reconstruction of the damaged houses.

"I perceive the wish on the part of the public to build houses according to their own desire. In principle, there is no problem. But they must really ensure their function and the houses are built under the concept of low-cost, healthy instant house (RISHA) technology," he said. *
