Yogyakarta, (ANTARA News) - Chief of the event`s organizing committee Gatot Subagio made assurance that Yogyakarta is safe and secure for the 35th General Assembly of International Council of Women (ICW) and the National Congress of 1,000 Indonesian Women Organizations.

"We continue to disseminate information regarding the condition in Yogyakarta that is safe in relation to the 35th General Assembly of International Council of Women (ICW) and National Congress of 1,000 Indonesian Women Organizations to take place on September 13-20, 2018," Subagio stated here on Wednesday.

Several delegations canceled their participation in the 35th General Assembly of ICW over concerns of natural disasters that recently occurred in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

"We continue to disseminate information that Lombok is located far away from Yogyakarta, and the president of ICW has also circulated information that the condition in Yogyakarta is still safe," Subagio revealed.

He has also taken precautionary measures against the risks that might arise from natural factors, as it was beyond the control of the committee.

Based on data, as many as 158 participants from 44 countries had attended and registered to participate in the 35th General Assembly of ICW that began on September 13, 2018.

The series of activities will kick off, with the ICW Board of Directors` meeting on Sept 11-12, followed by the opening of the 35th ICW General Assembly on Sept 13.

The National Gathering of 1,000 Indonesian Women`s Organizations will take place on Sept 13-14, and the opening ceremony will be held on Sept 14, with President Joko Widodo scheduled to deliver his remarks.

On Sept 14-18, plenary sessions, as part of the General Assembly, will be organized, featuring numerous women experts as speakers and covering various issues concerning women`s empowerment.

Visits to the Balkondes will be held on Sept 18-19 around the Borobudur Temple area in Magelang, Central Java. The event will conclude with the meeting of the ICW`s new Board of Directors on Sept 20.

The event was also held in cooperation with the Indonesian Women`s Congress (Kowani) and the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises.

In addition, the activity was fully supported by 35 state-owned enterprises, including the Indonesia News Agency ANTARA.
