Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc discussed a number of issues related to the challenges facing the fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0) in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The two leaders discussed the fourth industrial revolution at Hanoi National Convention Center and expressed hope that two nations could establish strategic partnership in the face of challenges of global economy and the fourth industrial revolution.

Jokowi also hoped that Vietnam would enhance cooperation and collaborate in developing creative and digital economies in the region, Deputy for Protocols, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin, stated.

He also congratulated Vietnam on its 73rd National Day anniversary, which fell on Sept 2, 2018. "I want to congratulate Vietnam on its 73rd National Day anniversary. Hopefully, peace and prosperity will always accompany the Vietnamese people," he remarked.

The two leaders also discussed the possibility for the two countries to increase cooperation in the development of the creative and digital economy in the region.

"I also want to thank you for the confirmation to attend the ASEAN Leaders` Gathering (ALG) in Bali on Oct 11, 2018," Jokowi noted.

The Head of State revealed that the ALG meeting was very important amid the increasingly uncertain global economic situation.

The meeting also became the right momentum for ASEAN to be able to speak more to the world. "It is a chance for ASEAN to show the world its economic resilience and strong commitment to development and poverty alleviation," the president stated.

Meanwhile, Phuc expressed his appreciation for Jokowi?s presence at the WEF.

In addition, he expressed the importance of the two countries to be mutually supportive.

"We must be able to take advantage of the current global conditions and the fourth industrial revolution," Phuc explained.

Accompanying the president were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Communications and Informatics Rudiantara, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Trikasih Lembong, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
