Solo, Central Java, (ANTARA News) - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Imam Nahrawi reviewed the training camp for volleyball athletes part of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) team preparing for the 2018 Asian Para Games at the Baturan Karanganyar Sports Hall on Friday.

In fact, Menpora joined the team of coaches invited to compete against the women`s volleyball team in Indonesia to try their strength, and finally won against the women`s team with two straight sets.

According to Nahrawi, the volleyball athletes have been undergoing training for months in Solo, and it does take time to learn the techniques and how to attack the opponent`s defense. However, the athletes must do so using the correct procedures, regulations and according to the rules.

The minister claimed to have enjoyed it very much and supported the volleyball athletes, and hoped that from the volleyball branch they would get good results and win medals at the Asian Para Games.

"For the volleyball branch athletes, there is still a chance left before they shift to Jakarta. We will also ask the coach to watch the development of our potential opponents at the Asian Para Games," said Menpora.

According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, the women`s special volleyball branch team has been progressing in the tryouts with China in May 2018 and is ranked fifth in the world.

Indonesia ranking fifth in the world must be supported continuously before they compete at the Asian Games in Jakarta.

"We plan to invite the Asian Games athletes to enjoy and support the Asian Para Games athletes," he said.

Menpora said that after seeing first hand the preparation of the athletes in training camps in Solo, his party appreciated the NPCs, HR, coaches, assistant coaches, and especially the athletes.

They have done something great, prepared well; challenges and tryouts have been passed, and they are left mentally fit to compete and now require support from the community.

Indonesian NPC Volleyball Coach Andri Asrol Setiawan said both male and female volleyball branch athletes will leave for Jakarta on September 20, 2018.

They have prepared 100 percent and just need to adapt to the venue and compete.

"The women`s volleyball team, after a tryout in China in May 2018, successfully ranked fifth in the world after China, Korea, Uzbekistan and Japan. The women`s team at the Asian Para Games in Jakarta can win a bronze medal," said Setiawan.

According to him, the Chinese team was a strong team, with particularly clever techniques and strong defenses. This can be an example for Indonesia. Although there is no competition in the country, the China team still practices every day.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, in addition to reviewing the volleyball sports branch in Solo also checked the arena of bicycle bikes in Manahan, fencing (Source), goal ball (Blulukan), and on the previous day, inspected archery (Jebres), bowling (Jebres), and chess at Alana Karanganyar Hotel.
