Eko said here on Friday.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Director of Narcotics Crime at the Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Brig.Gen. Eko Daniyanto said most known cases of drug trafficking in the country were controlled by bosses in prisons.
"Almost 98 percent of those controlling drug orders are in jail," Brig.Gen. Eko said here on Friday.
In the fight against drug trafficking, the targets are not only the couriers but also the leaders controlling the syndicate, he said.
He said the drug kingpin must be made poor by confiscating all their assets as indicated by Deputy Police Chief Com.Gen. Ari Dono Sukmanto and Bareskrim chief Com.Gen Arief Sulistyanto.
"If the syndicate leaders have become poor, there would be no orders from prison," he said.
He said police cooperate with the Financial Transaction Analysis and Reporting Center (PPATK) to see the possibility of money laundering (TPPU) involving the drug ring leaders.
He said police also continue to strengthen cooperation with the National Anti Narcotics Agency (BNN), the military and the Customs Office in tracking down narcotics trade in Indonesia.
In the second week of September 2018, the Directorate of Narcotics Crime of Bareskrim succeeded in uncovering 896 drug cases all over Indonesia, arresting 1,138 suspects, and confiscating 56.57 kg of methamphetamine, 968 kg of marijuana, 6,700 ecstasy pills, 23.54 grams gorilla tobacco, 11,724 psychotropic pills and five PCC pills.
