Jakarta, Sept 20 (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is attempting to continue to win over the hearts of the people by approaching them to gain trust and sympathy, as the keys to winning the election contest.

President Jokowi has registered as a candidate for the Republic of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 presidential term by partnering with KH Ma`ruf Amin as his vice presidential candidate.

On this Thursday, the General Election Commission will also determine the candidates for President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 period who will participate in the 2019 Presidential Election.

President Jokowi once shared the key to success in winning the hearts of the people at a democratic party of legislative candidates from the Perindo Party.

"I conveyed to the Perindo legislative candidates that it is important for them to go door-to-door to gain the people`s sympathy," President Jokowi noted while attending the briefing of candidates for the Indonesian Parliament`s Perindo 2019 Election House at the Jakarta Concert Hall INews Center, Jalan Wahid Hasyim, Jakarta, Monday (Sept 17).

During this time, Jokowi was popular for the manner in which he approached the people through his habit of "blaming."

According to Jokowi, that is what became one of the ways to win over the hearts of the people. Hence, in 2004, he gained public popularity and was later elected as mayor of Solo from 2005 to 2012.

Jokowi said his experience as an entrepreneur, who applied product marketing, taught him several things. Jokowi believes that political marketing is alike marketing a product that must include differentiation, "branding", and building trust.

"Yes, it looks similar; build trust and gain sympathy of the people. Indeed, what I practice is like that," he stated.

President Jokowi shared his experience in politics, including increasing popularity in the election, with legislative candidates from the Perindo Party.

"From my experience, for selling products, I look at the selling points and pros as being similar. There must be uniqueness, branding, product marketing, and political marketing. I bring it," the former governor of DKI Jakarta remarked.

President Jokowi noted that Indonesia will soon approach the political year of the 2019 legislative and presidential elections simultaneously or as the first experience in the democratic life in the country.

"The strategy is big, and the events will be like what we just found out after later voting," he noted.

He said that Indonesia is a large country, with 17 thousand islands, 514 regencies and cities, and 34 provinces that must be well-aware and maintained.

Especially for the Perindo Party, Jokowi believes that promoting the vision via "air" side or advertisements was well known.

"I see from the perspective of the Perindo Party that the air strike I think is over. If at midnight, Perindo airs the song on all the MNC channels, I and my wife memorize everything. That means the air side is completed," he noted.

However, during the 2012-2014 period, Governor of DKI Jakarta reminded that popularity on television did not mean that all was entirely achieved.

"Indeed, what is currently being discussed is micro targeting, micro campaigning, and canvasing. That is what I did 14 years ago. I have not done this yet. Hence, during the mayoral elections in 2004, the question asked in Solo was that you did not know Jokowi`s name that year. It did not exist at all," he noted.

Jokowi also shared his experience of political marketing by way of marketing products to ensure success by gaining public acknowledgment and trust.

"This is what I brought, from product marketing to political marketing," he stated.

Meanwhile, efforts to win the hearts of the people cannot be separated from the initiatives to attract public support.

President Jokowi affirmed that support in a democratic life is something that is not prohibited but must be done in a healthy and "fair" context.

"I need to remind you once again that support must be in a healthy, fair context. People can test ideas and programs delivered or that have been implemented," the man born in Surakarta on June 21, 1961, noted.

The president viewed the results of the scholarship of the National Movement for Fatwa Gurds that supports the Prabowo-Sandiaga Uno pair as something that is not prohibited in a democratic country.

Jokowi invited any community group to support his selected candidate in Indonesia as a democracy.

"Indonesia is a democratic country. I often say there is a support group for Mr Prabowo. Other groups support me and Kiai Ma`ruf. This is democracy. Please, it is not prohibited in a democratic country," he explained.

He believed that other groups continued to also provide support to Amin as a great ulama and chair of the MUI as a fact that could not be overlooked.

In the meantime, Yenny, the daughter of former president Abdurrahman Wahid, noted that President Jokowi worked hard, tirelessly from morning until night, and attended the program after the event, greeted the community, and directly reviewed projects related to the benefit of the community.

"He ordered his subordinates to continue to serve the people. He was the president, who was chosen by the people and worked for the people," Yenny, who is also director of the Wahid Foundation, noted.***2***
