Semarang, C Java, Sept 22(ANTARA News) - Acting Director General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Prof. Intan Ahmad stated that Indonesia must strengthen human resources so that the younger generation can compete in the industrial 4.0 era.

"We must learn in order to compete," Ahmad noted, when he was a guest speaker at the 2018 Research Festival Diponegoro University Student Executive Board representing Minister Mohamad Nasir in Semarang on Saturday.

According to Ahmad, the challenges of the Indonesian people in the future are to compete with other nations in the industrial 4.0 era. The problem is that Indonesia`s geography and demographics are unique as not all regions have experienced the 4.0 era.

He pointed out that there are still many regions in Eastern Indonesia where the people have not experienced the industrial revolution 4.0. In fact, there are still those who are not familiar with revolution 1.0.

"In Jakarta, Semarang, and other big cities, we are familiar with this 4.0 industrial revolution," he explained.

Ahmad noted that the development of technology was very fast. For example, computers were large before 45 years, with their weights reaching tens of tons.

"Computers now are very light and have faster ability," he pointed out.
