Jakarta, Sept 22 (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Government continues to improve cooperation in various sectors with Cambodia, one of which is by encouraging creative economic cooperation between the two countries.

Cooperation in the field of creative economy between Indonesia and Cambodia is considered to hold potential, according to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh, received by Antara here on Saturday.

In an effort to encourage such cooperation, the delegation of Indonesia`s Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF) had visited Cambodia on September 17-19, 2018.

The visit was aimed to make a presentation on creative economic cooperation with Cambodian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Ministry of Culture and Art of Cambodia, and delivered a letter of invitation to the ministers to attend the World Conference on Creative Economy to be held on November 8-9, 2018, in Bali.

In addition, the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh has facilitated a meeting with Westec Media Ltd, the largest film content distributor company in Cambodia, which is exploring the import of Indonesian films.

The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh received information that films from Indonesia are relevant for the Cambodian market, especially those belonging to the horror genre and romantic comedy, as the two countries have cultural similarities.

To this end, Westec Media is optimistic of meeting with Indonesian film industry players to realize this goal.

To benefit from the presence of the BEKRAF delegation, the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh held a Coffee Morning Discussion on Creative Economy in the multipurpose room of the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh.

The event was attended by 20 participants comprising Cambodian businessmen, including those belonging to the Young Entrepreneur Association of Cambodia, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Art of Cambodia.

The activity was opened by Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Sudirman Haseng, who conveyed the importance of understanding global developments in enhancing growth through a competitive economy.

Ambassador Sudirman expressed hope that participants of the activity could use the discussion session to seek potential cooperation in improving economic relations between the two countries.

During various discussions, the participants sought support for Indonesian cooperation in developing the creative economy in Cambodia, which was synergized with support of the Government of Cambodia.
