Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Hundreds of investors are interested in exploring opportunities for cooperation to develop the electricity potentials in Indonesia.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Electricity Society (MKI), Heru Dewanto, in a statement received by Antara here Monday said there were 250 national and international companies or organizations interested in developing Indonesia`s electricity sector, including electricity infrastructure, new and renewable energy sources, as well as energy storage technology.

PennWell, an international exhibition organizer company, in collaboration with MKI has invited these investors to discuss on electricity issues at a conference.

MKI Chairperson Supangkat Iwan Santoso said the conference was participated in by more than 7,500 professionals and academics.

One of the interesting programs at the conference was a half-day workshop on energy storage applications in the Southeast Asia region.

The energy or battery storage industry is currently seen as an important factor in the development of renewable energy, and is expected to become one of the main supporting industries in the modern electricity sector.

"Innovation is an important thing in the sustainability of the energy industry in Indonesia given the various challenges that should be faced by companies. Even multinational companies should continue to innovate to survive," Supangkat said.

Other topics discussed at the workshop were risks in the energy storage business, training to measure and calculate the risks for developers, business owners, investors, governments, suppliers, policy analysts, business analysts and economists.

Another program in the conferences was the Energy Innovation Challenge (EIC) which aims to provide opportunities for innovators to deliver their ideas and show innovations.
