Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait, Tatang Budie Utama Razak, handed over the chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK) for the period of January-June 2018 to ACK Chairman of the next period, Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait, Dusit Manapan, on Sept 19.

The handover ceremony was witnessed by ASEAN ambassadors, namely Brunei Darussalam Ambassador Ahmad Haji Jumat, Lao Ambassador Sisonxay Ngaovongsi, Malaysian Ambassador Dato Mohammad Ali Selamat, Myanmar Ambassador Aye Khaing, and Vietnam Ambassador Trinh Minh Manh, according to a statement received here on Tuesday.

During the ceremony, the Indonesian Ambassador also presented the Chairman?s Memorandum listing the ACK activities within the first semester of 2018 while ending his term as the Indonesian Ambassador in Kuwait.

Under Indonesia?s chairmanship, ACK held a series of annual events, such as futsal, table tennis, and badminton tournaments.

But this year?s events are more special because of the first participation of the embassies of ASEAN?s dialogue partners, namely China, South Korea, and Japan.

At the ambassadors? level, ACK also held an informal luncheon meeting with the Governor of Farwaniya, Sheikh Faisal Al-Humuod Al-Malek Al-Sabah.

During the closing ceremony, Razak expressed his thanks and appreciation to ACK members for their support, particularly ACK working group who have been working hard to achieve the agreed targets as one community.

He also offered his best wishes for the continued success of Dusit Manapan, as the incoming ACK Chairman, and all ACK members.

Since the establishment of ACK in 2011, Indonesia has twice assumed the ACK chairmanship.

Conventionally, ambassadors will assume ACK chairmanship corresponding with the ASEAN chairmanship in the same period.

In 2018, Indonesia and Thailand will assume the ACK chairmanship to fill in for Singapore, which has not yet opened its embassy in Kuwait.
