Serang, Banten (ANTARA News) - Taiwan will provide six thousand scholarship packages for Indonesian students who want to deepen their knowledge in the field of vocational higher education, according to Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Mohamad Nasir.

"We are cooperating with Taiwan to provide Indonesian students with six thousand scholarship packages," the minister remarked, after the groundbreaking ceremony of a new campus at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University here, on Wednesday.

Nasir stated that his party would send 320 students to Taiwan to try the implementation of the scholarship in October 2018.

"If this program works well, the following year we will add 1.5 thousand more students to Taiwan," he noted.

The minister remarked that the cooperation will support the development of quality human resources to prepare young people who are ready to enter the world of work and contribute to the development of the Indonesian nation.

"This is a collaboration between Indonesia and the universities in Taiwan," he added.

Nasir revealed that in the scholarship scheme, the recipient students would continue their two-year study in Taiwan after a two-year study in Indonesia

"In Taiwan, the students can get the diploma as applied graduates," the minister pointed out.
