Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Mutiara SIS Al Jufri Airport in Palu, Central Sulawesi is opened for commercial flights in accordance with NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) number HO755/18.

Airnav Indonesia`s spokesman Yohanes Sirait in a statement received by Antara here Sunday said currently, the flights use Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Visual Rules (IVR).

"The commercial flight is opened following the earlier condition which Mutiara Sis Al Jufri Airport is opened for emergency, SAR and humanitarian flights," he said.

AirNav Indonesia has sent a number of personnel from Makassar (South Sulawesi) and Balikpapan (East Kalimantan) to ensure the flight navigation services at Palu Airport run well to optimize the recovery process after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit Donggala and triggered 1.5-meter tsunami in Palu on Friday afternoon (Sept 28).

BMKG (the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics) mentioned that a 7.4-magnitudes quake occurred at 17.02 at local time, with the epicenter at 11 kilometers depth, 27 kilometers northeast of Donggala, Central Sulawesi.

The initial earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitudes occurred at 13:59 local time, with the epicenter on land at 10 kilometer depth, 61 kilometers north of Palu, Central Sulawesi. The next earthquake of 5.0 magnitude occurred with at 14.28 at local time with the epicenter at 10 kilometer depth, 10 kilometers northeast of Donggala.

Based on the latest report, the death toll from the disaster had reached 384 people.
