Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government is making security preparations for the visits by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad to the earthquake-and tsunami-stricken city of Palu in Central Sulawesi.

"We held a coordination meeting to decide on receiving VVIP guests who plan to visit affected areas in Palu during the Bali Forum," Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto said, after a coordination meeting with Deputy Police Chief Commissioner General Ari Dono Sukmanto and Chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Board (BNPB) Willem Rampalingei, here on Tuesday.

They will visit Palu on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)- World Bank (WB) Group annual meetings in Nusa Dua, Bali, from Oct 12 to 14, 2018, he stated.

The coordination meeting is aimed at ensuring that the visits will be smooth and secure since flights to Bali are currently crowded and Palu is now in an emergency response period, he noted.

"When a state guest visits a place, particularly disaster-hit area such as Palu, Central Sulawesi, the security arrangements are needed. When these VVIP guests visit Palu, we will arrange the visits in such a way that the visits will be secure and smooth," he remarked.
