Banyumas, C Java (ANTARA News) - Ministry of Agriculture encourages farmers to accelerate the rice planting period, said the Person in Charge of Special Efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture in Banyumas and Banjarnegara Apri Handono.

"We are driving the planting acceleration using alsintan (agricultural machinery). This activity began last year, accelerating planting in October, so that it is expected to be harvested in January," he said in Tinggarjaya Village, Jatilawang District, Banyumas District, Central Java, Friday.

Apri said that when monitoring the implementation of the simultaneous land processing movement in order to accelerate the planting of the first planting season 2018/2019.

He expressed his gratitude to the Field Agriculture Extension farmers (PPL), and the Village Counselor Guards (Babinsa) in preparing the water used to irrigate the rice fields.

"Today (12/10) the water can enter (into rice fields) with a debit of approximately 4 cubic per second. We expect 350 hectares of paddy fields in Tinggarjaya Village to be ready for planting this October," he said, who is also the Head of the Livestock Training Center ( BBPP) Batu, East Java.

He said the Ministry of Agriculture is targeting the planting area in Banyumas District to accelerate the planting period in October to reach 6,000 hectares.
When compared with the realization of the planting acceleration in October 2017 which reached a range of 4,000 hectares, he said he was optimistic that the target of 6,000 hectares could be achieved.

Meanwhile, PPL in Jatilawang Trisula Subdistrict admitted that actually the planting period in Tinggarjaya Village had been delayed for several days from the planned time because it was constrained by irrigation from the Tajum Irrigation Area.
"The actual irrigation schedule is on October 1. Because there is a total rehabilitation and there were landslides, eventually it resigned so that the new October 11 will flow. Thus, today (Oct 12) we move friends of farmers, tractor operators, UPJA (Service Business Services Alsintan) Sri Tani Jaya in Tinggarjaya Village to go down (to the fields) all," he said.

According to him, in Tinggarjaya Village there were 22 units of two-wheeled tractors and one unit of four-wheeled tractors to process 350 hectares of paddy fields with the help of a four-wheel tractor which would be imported from Korem 071 / Wijayakusuma.
Because the irrigation water has just flowed, he estimates that 350 hectares of rice fields in Tinggarjaya Village will be irrigated evenly within 10 days because the land is too dry due to drought.

"Let`s say the farmers make nurseries, two-wheeled tractors and four-wheel tractors all fall so that it is expected that on October 15 there will be an all nursery. Thus, by the end of October it can be planted," he said.

Trisula admitted that if the irrigation system runs normally, it targets an 800-hectare planting acceleration in October.

Because of the improvement of the irrigation channel and the new water flowing on October 11, he estimated the area of planting acceleration in Jatilawang District in October was around 625 hectares.

"In addition to the TInggarjaya Village, the planting acceleration was also carried out in the villages of Gentawangi, Tunjung and Kedungwringin," he said. ***3***
