Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian delegation has been appointed to chair a general assembly meeting of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) held in Istanbul, Turkey, on October 21-25, 2018.

According to a statement received by Antara here on Tuesday, the Indonesian delegation chaired the 3rd session of the 2018 General Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue & Corporation (ICYF-DC) under the theme "Solidarity for Youth Empowerment."

"The meeting discusses reports on policy for one period as well as evaluates and establishes youth activities in OIC countries, such as advocating youth interests, supporting sustainable development, maintaining world peace, strengthening education, boosting entrepreneurship, inculcating moral values in the younger generation, and actively participating in inter-cultural dialogue," Chairman of Diplomatic Relations of OIC Youth Indonesia Beni Pramula noted.

Pramula, who is also the Asian African Youth President, remarked that 57 OIC/ICYF-DC member countries participated in the 2018 assembly meeting. An important agenda in this session is to elect the president, secretary general, and members of the OIC youth council for the 2018-2022 period.

Pramula added that at the meeting, the Indonesian delegation specifically called on the youth of Islamic cooperation to improve efforts to maintain solidarity and strengthen cooperation and unity of the OIC in facing global challenges.

The Indonesian delegation also promotes the formation of a working group that is tasked with being a mediator to handle any conflict between OIC countries. The formation of this working group is the proposal of the OIC Youth Indonesia.

According to Chairman of the Indonesian Delegation Ahmad Fauzan, Indonesia dispatched several members from various professional backgrounds to the ICYF-DC meeting, including Ahmad Syafeei, a young entrepreneur and motivator; Ilyas Indra from the advisory board of OIC Youth; Madhyasta Budi Pradhana, a student of Brawijaya University, Malang; Astrid Nadya Rizqita, the executive secretary of OIC Youth Indonesia; Hasanatu Syadia, a student of Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta; and Novar Aditya Praja from the OIC Youth Indonesia.

He noted that during this year`s session, Indonesian representatives also succeeded in selecting Indonesian OIC Youth Chair Tantan Taufiq Lubis as a member of the world Islamic youth council.

"Tantan Taufiq Lubis is a representation of Indonesian youth as well as the only young man from the Asian region who will play strategic roles in bilateral and multilateral cooperation. We hope that the position of Tantan Taufiq Lubis as the Asian Board Member of OIC benefits the Indonesian Islamic youth," he added.

Meanwhile, Lubis stated that Indonesia, as the largest Muslim country in the world, has a strategic position since it has a large number of youth, with adequate quality in aspects of leadership, individual abilities, and organizational experience.

"This is an extraordinary capital for Indonesian youth to make their mark on the global stage. The global youth organizations have similar conditions as national youth organizations, in which there are professional youths and young entrepreneurs that make youth organizations more progressive and advanced," he explained.
