He stated this when delivering a remark at the World Indonesianists Forum held in Denpasar, Bali, on Oct 30, 2018, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Antara here on Tuesday.
On this occasion, Marsudi also emphasized the importance of improving understanding about Indonesia.
Earlier, the Head of the Agency for Policy Research and Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Siswo Pramono, noted that Indonesianists could be defined as foreigners who understood and loved Indonesian cultures.
In addition, Indonesianists are also foreigners who have a special interest in Indonesia, have a special academic knowledge about Indonesia, and are continuously involved in the development of Indonesia intellectually.
At the forum, Marsudi pointed out the development of Indonesian diplomacy in the world, such as the country's role in the peace process in Palestine and Afghanistan, as well as Indonesia's role in increasing world awareness of the importance of marine conservation through the 2018 Our Ocean Conference (OOC) in Bali.
Marsudi highlighted two things that could make a better world, namely friendship and cooperation, as well as global leadership. Therefore, she invited millennial Indonesianists to work together to achieve common goals.
The forum, which was held on Oct 29 and 30, 2018, was participated by 200 Indonesianists who are academics, researchers, students, as well as arts and cultural activists.
Of the participants, 145 are millennial generations from 43 countries such as the United States, Australia, Botswana, Czech Republic, Hungary, and China. Currently, they are studying at various universities in Indonesia.
The forum, which was initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture, and Udayana University, is a forum for Indonesianists to share knowledge and experiences about Indonesia and to work together to promote Indonesia.
The main theme of the forum, namely the Role of Millennial Generation, was discussed during plenary discussions and workshops with three sub-themes, namely Building World Peace: Indonesia's Contribution to a Peaceful World; Indonesia's Achievement in Science, Technology, and Development; and Promoting and Preserving Indonesia's Rich Culture.
At the plenary sessions, the participants also discuss the Future of Indonesianists.
Some experts on Indonesia who participated in the international forum were Prof. Anis H. Bajrektarevic from Austria, Prof. Xu Liping from China, Dr. Michael R.J. Vatikiotis from Australia, and Prof. Dr. Jan van der Putten from Germany.
The international forum also featured various Indonesian arts and cultural performances, batik making process, and a gamelan performance brought by a number of Indonesianists.
