Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The search and rescue team will hand over the retrieved black box of Lion Air JT 610 to the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), an official of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) stated.

"Head of the search and rescue team will report the finding to the Basarnas chief and then hand it over to KNKT," Basarnas` Director for Training and Preparedness Didi Hamzar remarked here on Thursday.

Hamzar said he has yet to receive an official report from the SAR team on the finding of the ill-fated aircraft`s black box.

A joint team of divers has found and lifted the black box of the Lion Air flight JT 610 that crashed into the Karawang waters in West Java on Monday.

"Both the Baruna Jaya and Rigel ships have located its position, and our team then dived and pulled the black box," Commander of the SAR task force Col. Isswarto noted in Karawang.

The black box has been brought to the Tanjung Priok Port to be handed over to KNKT for further investigation, he noted.

The black box was found at a depth of 25-35 meters on the seabed, some 100 meters from the estimated position.
