Jakartasa ((ANTARA News) - The social assistance program provided by the government is part of its commitment and concern for meeting the basic needs of the community, according to Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani.

"Today I am in Solo, Central Java, to check whether the social assistance provided by the government is going well and on target," Maharani remarked in a press release received by Antara here on Saturday.

She said the government program to ensure the quality of life of the community are carried out through the fulfillment of nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life, health insurance through Healthy Indonesia Cards (KIS), education guarantee through Smart Indonesia Cards (KIP), national character education, family hope programs, and food security.

Maharani added that the mayor of Surakarta has said the central government`s social assistance was synergized with social assistance from the local government.

"Everything is useful and works well, and it can certainly be used by the community. We hope that the welfare of the people of Solo can increase," the minister said.

The minister stressed that the current program is still sustainable, and the synergy must be maintained between the central and regional governments. In addition, all available assistance must be utilized as well as possible.

"If all the assistance programs provided are proven to be well utilized, we will still be able to give the program back," Maharani said.

On the occasion, she provided symbolically assistance to beneficiaries.

Overall the assistance provided was in the form of Smart Indonesia Cards (500 recipients), SK TPG (100 recipient teachers), PAUD and Dikmas assistance, assistance of 500 Kg of Pregnant Women PMT and 500 Kg of Toddler PMT, as well as seedlings in 15 farmer groups.

In 2018, the government provided educational facilities in the city of Surakarta in the form of information and communication technology-based learning facilities for 11 elementary schools at the amount of Rp643,500,000, junior high school education facilities amounting to Rp 1,079,139,000, and high school education facilities in the form of new classes, libraries and ICT-based equipment amounting to Rp1,134,255,000.
