Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Yenny Wahid, daughter of former President Abdurrahman Wahid, will deliver a speech on women`s roles at the Paris Peace Forum held on November 11-13, 2018.

Yenny is one of the 12 members of the Steering Committee of the Paris Peace Forum which is led by former director general of World Trade Organization Pascal Lamy, and founder of the Indian non-profit organization Shesays, Trisha Shetty, according to a written statement here on Monday.

Yenny claimed she had been selected thanks to her activities with the country`s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) which has a member of about 80 million.

She was believed to be able to promote peace in the grass-root level, empower marginalized women and concentrate on developing the Wahid foundation.

"Currently, I am professionally focusing on developing international networks to promote peace. Thanks God, by stages we have been recognized by international institutions," she said.

For example, she added, she had established cooperation with the UN Women to carry out women program for peace. She is the only member of the steering committee from the Southeast Asia region.

Other figures who are members of the steering committee included Rouba Mhaissen of Lebanon, Haifa Dia Al-Attia of Jordan and Huiyao as well as Zhimin Chen of China.

During the forum, Yenny will speak of the women`s role in fighting for peace. Yenny has so far pioneered the Peace Village program and radicalism early detection system in Indonesia.
