Jakarta (Antara News) - PT Jasamarga Ngawi Kertosono Kediri (JNK), the operator of the Ngawi-Kertosono toll road in East Java, said the 4th section of the toll road between Wilangan and Kertosono now under construction would be operational early next year.

Iwan Moedyarno, the director of the subsidiary of the state owned highway developer PT Jasa Marga, said the process of land clearing for the 4th section Wilangan-Kertosono had been wrapped up.

Currently, JNK could focus itself on technical work. The work is already 90 percent finished for the Wilangan-Kertosono section, Iwan said.

"There is only work of rigid pavement that needs to be finished, not much. The bridge is already completed though it still needs lamp for illumination, Median Concrete Barrier`, marks , etc," he said on the sidelines of Trans Java toll road survey by Minister of State Enterprises Rini M. Soemarno, accompanied by Chief Executive of Jasa Marga Desi Arryani, and Chief Executive of state-owned construction company PT Waskita Karya I Ngurah Putra on Monday.

Part of the 87.92 kilometer Ngawi-Kertosono toll road is already operational. Work in the 49.5 kilometer section of Ngawi-Wilangan by PT JNK had already been completed and operational on 1 April, 2018, and the remaining 37.97 kilometers is built by the Public Works and Housing Ministry.

The Ngawi-Kertosono toll road could serve as an access to the Solo-Ngawi toll road, which provides links between Central Java and East Java.

Both Ngawi-Kertosono and Solo-Ngawi toll roads are parts of the Trans Java toll road to link Banyuangi in the eastern end of Java and Merak Port in the western end of the island.

Construction of the 1,167 kilometer Trans Java toll road began in 1984.
