Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked Timika district in the easternmost Indonesian province of Papua on Tuesday, according to the local office of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The epicenter of the quake which struck at 04.34 p.m. local time was located 62 kilometers northeast of Jayapura district, Papua province, at a depth of 97 kilometers, the office said.

There was no immediate report of casualties and material damage.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 is considered moderate and capable of causing considerable damage.
