Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi claimed he had not received a proposal to re-operate Merpati airline.

"There is no application directly sent to us," Sumadi stated, on the sidelines of the Ministry of Transportation`s coordination meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He supported the re-operation of the most operating airlines for the East region.

However, he noted that the management of Merpati must fulfill a number of requirements, such as the fleet, the presence of crew and pilots, and the sound financial condition of the company.

"Yes, indeed, we expect Merpati to recover, but general requirements for flights must be followed, meaning they should have a fleet, crew, and pilots," he remarked.

In addition, the aspects of safety and security, which are the most important aspects, must be met.

"Yes, indeed from the start, it must be conservative, because the world of aviation is very tight. The assumption cannot be loose, and there must be a strict organization.

The people must be competent, and the fleet must be healthy, he noted. On the same occasion, Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Maria Kristi Endah Murni, explained that the process for submitting an operating permit must undergo the process from the start.

"The process is done through Online Single Submission (OSS) from the beginning," he added.

The air transport business permit processes an application through the OSS Institution.

The applicant must first have a Business Registration Number (NIB) and a Business License that has not been effective.

Business licenses will be effective if the applicant has fulfilled the administrative and technical requirements in the form of a business plan.

The application is approved after fulfilling these requirements and paying Non-Tax State Revenues (PNBP).

Meanwhile, the licensing process will take 30 working days after the file is received in full.

After obtaining a business license, the company can operate or carry out air transportation activities after having an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in accordance with applicable regulations.
