Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The East Timorese government is exploring cooperation with Indonesia in the media sector through a visit of the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Mericion Juvinal dos reis "Akara," to the Indonesian news agency, Antara, here on Wednesday.

On his visit, Akara expressed his plan to establish a cooperation scheme between the Timor Leste News Agency Tatoli and Antara, covering exchanges of human resources as well as information and news products.

He believes that Antara is the right partner to increase the capacity and quality of Tatoli News Agency in many aspects.

"Our visit is to explore and exchange ideas. As a new country, we have a news agency that still needs a lot of learning. I think Antara News Agency has a lot of experiences. So, we talk about the possibility of exchange of journalists, especially East Timorese journalists, to learn from Antara," he explained.

Meanwhile, Antara's President Director, Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, welcomed the initiative and outlined various options for cooperation between the two news agencies, one of which is training to increase human resource capacity.

During the meeting, Akara was accompanied by Timor Leste National Radio Director, Luise Dos Santos Soares; an Audiovisual Department Staff member, Joni Vitoriano; Secretary of State for Social Communication Advisor, Cipriano Madeira Pinto; and a representative of the Timor Leste Embassy in Jakarta, Joel Da Costa.

Meanwhile, Suryodiningrat was accompanied by the Director of News Department, Achmad Munir, as well as Managing Editors of Budi Setiawanto, Teguh Priyanto and Saptono HP.
