Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Two aftershocks, respectively measuring 4.3 and 3.5 on the Richter Scale, jolted Mamasa, West Sulawesi Province, on Thursday morning.

The 4.3-magnitude quake was felt at III Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale by the residents of Mamasa, according to information issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), here, Thursday.

Mamasa has been hit by a series of minor earthquakes over the last few days. The district was jolted by a quake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale on Wednesday at 2:53 Western Indonesian Standard Time.

Meanwhile, on Thursday at 3:31 a.m. local time, a quake measuring 2.9 on the Richter Scale jolted Palu, Central Sulawesi. The quake was felt at II-III MMI in Palu.

Moreover, an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale jolted South Bali on Thursday at 1:23 a.m. local time, but it did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami.

The quake`s epicenter was located at 9.42 degrees southern latitude and 115.41 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 20 km, and 78 km southwest of Klungkung, the BMKG noted in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

The tremor was felt by the residents of Tabanan, Karangasem, Kuta, Jimbaran, Denpasar, Mataram, Central Lombok, North Lombok, West Lombok, and East Lombok at III-IV MMI.

The earthquake of III MMI was felt by the residents of Gianyar, Klungkung, Nusa Dua, Legian, and Sumbawa.

Several people fled their homes as the quake struck for several seconds.
