Bandarjaya, Lampung (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) distributed 1,300 land certificates among farm families in the district of Lampung Tengah, Lampung Province, on Friday.

In his visit to Lampung, the president and the First Lady were accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister for Agrarian Affairs/Head of the Land Office Sofyan Djalil, Public Works and Housing Minister Basoeki Hadimoeljono, and Minister of Rural Affairs and Transmigration Eko Putro Sandjojo.

The president said in every area in the country he had visited he received reports of land dispute.

He said 80 million of 126 million pieces of lands in Indonesia, do not yet have certificates.

Jokowi said the certificate is important to serve as a legal document on the right over the land.

The President reminded the people to carefully keep the certificate and use them properly such as to serve as collateral for bank loan.

On the occasion the president asked the people to remain united especially in facing the legislative and presidential election, saying the people should not be split by different political orientation and not easily cheated by unfounded slanders that could lead to hostility.

Meanwhile, Sofyan Jalil reported Lampung Tengah had 30,200 pieces of land to be certified.

In 2023 certification of all pieces of land are to be completed in the province of Lampung.

Lampung Governor M. Ridho Ficardo said development of infrastructure in Lampung is running fast especially for projects handled by the Central Government.

The governor said the district of Lampung Tengah is a farm center recorded the fourth largest surplus in rice production in the country.

The farmers are grateful for the free distribution of land certificate as with the certificate the land prices soared especially after the construction of toll road in the province, he said.

The governor said he hoped that other district areas in Lampung would soon receive free land certificates.
