Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again carried out the dissemination of information and updates regarding the granting of privileges and diplomatic immunity to all foreign country representatives and international organizations in Indonesia (29/11).

The activity, held at Titan Center, Bintaro Region, aims to provide an understanding and exchange of views and information regarding the implementation of granting privileges and diplomatic immunity for all foreign country representatives and international organizations in Indonesia.

This activity was attended by more than 250 participants and was initiated by the Director General of Protocol and Consular, Ambassador Andri Hadi.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hadi conveyed that being the host of 269 Foreign Representatives and International Organizations is an honor for Indonesia to facilitate in accordance with the principles of "Difficulties, Necessitates, Facilitation", where facilitation was carried out according to general principles in the 1961 Vienna Convention and the 1963 Vienna Convention, which was also adjusted to the provisions that apply in accordance with the national law in Indonesia, namely Law Number 37 of 1999 concerning Foreign Relations.

The Director of Diplomatic Facilities, John Tjahjanto Boestami, in his presentation revealed the challenges faced by Indonesia as a host regarding the granting of diplomatic privileges and immunity, and stated that the volume of tasks carried out by the Diplomatic Facility Directorate is quite high.

It was also stated that the Government had ratified the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the 1963 Vienna Convention concerning Consular Relations as the basis for the Indonesian Government in carrying out diplomatic and consular relations.

Indonesia is obliged to comply with and implement the provisions stated in the two conventions in question.

In this case, the Diplomatic Facilitator Directorate has the task and function of providing diplomatic facilities to foreign country representatives and international organizations.

Related to these matters, the dissemination of information and updates on the granting of privileges and diplomatic immunity for all Representatives of Foreign Countries and International Organizations has an important meaning that all foreign country representatives and international organizations understand their rights and obligations, while paying attention to the principles that apply to international conventions and the application of reciprocity.

The socialization activities continued with a presentation and question-and-answer session by presenting a number of speakers from relevant agencies, namely the Indonesian National Police, Airports Authority and the Customs Directorate and the Directorate of Diplomatic Facilities of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
