JAKARTA, Indonesia, Dec. 11, 2018 (Antara/Xinhua-AsiaNet)--

Although the inaugural China International Import Expo (CIIE) is still outgoing from a month ago, its second edition is already incoming. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has arrived in Jakarta to have brought invitations for Indonesian exporters who are looking forward to getting Chinese consumers to know more about their goods and services through the exposition platform.

The Chinese ministry has held, along with the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, this December 10th promo-demo show for over 100 high-profile government and business leaders from around Indonesia. Present at and speaking to the Jakarta promo-demo roadshow are Indonesia's Directorate General for National Export Development (DGNED) chief Sulisyavati, Indonesia's Oil Palm Plantation Fund board director Tono Bostami, Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce standing committee vice chair Yono, and Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia acting chair Zhang Jin Xiong. The senior vice president of Indonesia's Sinar Mas Group, Felix, has shared experiences of attending the inaugural China International Import Expo. The roadshow gets support from the Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia.

Sinar Mas Group, Bagus Group, Mayora and Maspion Group have signed up during the Jakarta roadshow for attending the second China import expo. The foursome will share among them an exposition floor space of 1,040 square meters.

With the theme of "New Era, Shared Future," the first China import expo has drawn more than 3,600 exhibitors from 172 countries, regions and international organizations. The exposition was held between November 5 and 10 in Shanghai. Indonesia is among the 12 guest-of-honor countries in the inaugural CIIE. Forty-three Indonesian enterprises have brought to the fore goods and services which cover 1,700 square meters of exposition floor space at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Their exhibits of daily chemical products, gifts, personal healthcare and cosmetics have combined to net an intentional export amount of over 720 million U.S. dollars with Chinese importers.

The DGNED chief says Indonesia has attended the inaugural edition of import exposition and brought home satisfying outcomes. Indonesia sees it as a weighted pathway to promote and bring its products to the Chinese market. The country encourages more of its better enterprises to attend the second import expo and expects to get a larger exposition space for them.

Indonesian and Chinese economies are highly complementary and have great potential for deepening cooperation in energy and mining, agriculture, manufacturing and infrastructure. Already popular on the Chinese market are Indonesian coal, palm oil, bird's-nest, coffee beans and mangosteen fruits. In recent years, Chinese and Indonesian economic and trade cooperation has been developing smoothly, with China being Indonesia's largest trading partner for 7 years in a row.

According to Wang Liping, minister-counsellor of economy and business in the Chinese embassy in Jakarta, bilateral trade between China and Indonesia in the first 10 months of this year has reached 63.7 billion U.S. dollars, already surpassing the 2017 total of 63.3 billion dollars.

"CIIE is an opportunity created by China with historic significance for all countries intended to expand exports to China. Our country is willing to import more competitive and distinctive products and services from Indonesia. We sincerely hope that the Indonesian government and enterprises make the most of this opportunity to promote export to China and share the dividends of the expanding Chinese market. And we will provide first-class service and convenience to foreign businesses participating in the import exposition," said Liu Fuxue, deputy director of CIIE Bureau.

The deputy director also expressed: "We hope the CIIE will assist liberalizing and facilitating international trade and investment, joining efforts in baking a bigger still global trade cake, and contributing toward the construction of a more dynamic, open and inclusive globalized economy. And we also hope the Indonesian enterprises can feel the opening-up and charm of the Chinese market through CIIE. The import exposition stands a gift presented to the world by an open and opening-wider China."

The promotion for the 2nd CIIE has been on the road since July 1. An official website at www.ciie.org is open for import expo application. By far, vast numbers of enterprises and entrepreneurs have signed up for participation in the 2nd exposition. They include many Fortune Global 500 and trade-leader companies from such fields as equipment, consumption, food, healthcare and services. So far, well over 30,000 square meters of floor space are booked up for the incoming import expo. There are many more companies negotiating exposition details with the CIIE hosts and organizers.

A series of promo-demo tour-shows for the second China International Import Expo have hit the road early on this month and will tour around Panama, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, the United States and Brazil.
