Langgur, Maluku (ANTARA News) - The Southeast Maluku District in Maluku Province received a certificate of Human Rights Care Award at the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Human Rights in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to a press statement on Wednesday, Southeast Maluku District Head Hi. M. Thaher Hanubu was present at the ceremony of the Human Rights anniversary to receive the award for the districts and cities having concern for Human Rights.

Present at the ceremony were district heads, mayors, governors, regional secretaries, heads of regional offices of law and human rights, and the heads of Technical Implementation Unit and assistants from each region.

Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly, in his report, remarked that the Human Rights Care assessments comprised health, education, women`s and children`s problems, and so on.

The assessment comprised levels, specifically areas that are both moderate and sufficient.

Of all 514 districts and cities, 409 had participated in the 2018 Human Rights anniversary, and the number of participants is expected to increase in 2019.

Similar awards are also expected to be given by every ministry, including the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Minister Laoly expressed hope that the business world would also pay attention to Human Rights.

During a speech, Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated that Indonesia was the leading country in the declaration of Human Rights Care.

Vice President Kalla emphasized that the Indonesian people and nation must respect human rights.

"To be able to implement human rights, we must make and follow the policies stipulated in the human rights declaration," Kalla affirmed.

The vice president also bestowed an award on the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in carrying out these activities and respecting human rights in reviewing cases of human rights violations that occurred.
