Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - A man was killed and four others were seriously injured when two cars plunged into ravine in landslides in Sitinjau Lauik, Padang, West Sumatra, on Thursday night at 22.30 local time.

? Another car, passenger bus Family Raya with 30 passengers on board, was also pushed by falling piles of earth to the brink of the ravine, witnesses said.

The two other cars, a minibus and a truck, plunged into the ravine, head of the Padang Disaster Control Agency Edi Hasymi said on Friday.

Edi said five passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital but one of them died later at the hospital.

The landslides cut communications by land transport between Padang and Solok resulting in long traffic jam.
