Pandeglang, Banten, Dec 24 (ANTARA News) - The death toll due to the tsunami disaster in the Sunda Strait Waters, Banten province, has increased from 334 to 356 people

"We have received the death toll report until 19:00 WIB," Fahrizal, an official at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) at the Tsunami Disaster Main Post on Pandeglang on Monday, stated.

Volunteer officers are still evacuating people in the locations affected by the tsunami.

It is possible that the number of victims killed, injured, and missing would still increase.

At this time, the weather in the Sunda Strait waters is poor, accompanied by rain and strong winds.

Those affected by the tsunami were spread in 17 points. Panimbang point had the highest number of victims, with 74 people, Carita had 71 people, Lampung OSC 70 people, Tanjung Lesung 52, Sumur 38, Cimanggu 14 people, Labuan 12 people, and Anyer had 12 people.

The number of those injured was 999, and those missing was 61.

"Most of the victims who died were tourists," he remarked.

Pandeglang District Head Irna Narulita explained that her party was focusing on the search for bodies and the evacuation of victims of the tsunami wave.

It is possible that the tsunami victims will increase, because at this time, the weather would not be friendly.

"We call on the officers of the evacuation team to find the tsunami victims, both dead and injured," he added.
