Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Advisory Board of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) has called on the entire Indonesian nation, particularly Muslims, to exercise self-restraint and preserve brotherhood during the political year.

"We are concerned about the developments in the life of our nation, which lead to the phenomenon of conflict and hostility with regard to the agenda of presidential election," chief of the MUI`s advisory board Din Syamsuddin said here on Wednesday.

He noted that the general elections, particularly the presidential election which will be held in April 2019, have led to the emergence of two supporting camps.

"In my view, the two supporting camps have interacted excessively, including insulting (one another) on social media, which will harm the interests of the nation and Muslims themselves," he remarked.

Hence, he asked Muslims of the two supporting camps to respect each other and interact without hostility.
