Sukabumi, W Java, (ANTARA News) - A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team is still searching for 24 people believed to have been buried by a landslide that struck Sirnaresmi village in West Java`s Sukabumi district.

"Until the third day of search for victims of a landslide in Sinarresmi village, Cisolok sub-district, 63 of 101 affected people had survived, eight were killed, three were injured, and the rest are still missing," Commander of the Suryakencana Military Resort Command Colonel (Inf) M Hasan said here on Tuesday.

The joint SAR team comprising personnel from various agencies, including the Indonesian military, police, and disaster mitigation board as well as volunteers, are still searching for landslide victims in several places where they are believed to have been buried by the landslide, he stated.

However, they had to postpone the search several times due to heavy rains, which would fearfully trigger another landslide, he added.

In several places, the SAR workers have spotted bodies buried by the landslide.

The SAR team used the available instrument to search for the landslide victims as they found it difficult to bring heavy-duty equipment to the scene due to labile soil.
