Banda Aceh, (ANTARA News) - The police have arrested 41 out of the 113 prisoners, who escaped from Lambaro Prison in Aceh Besar District, Banda Aceh Police Chief Senior Commissioner Trisno Riyanto stated.

"As of today, 41 prisoners were arrested, of which one died in North Sumatra," Riyanto noted here on Wednesday.

The inmate, Hamdani bin Rusli, died after being allegedly assaulted by the mass in North Sumatra.

Hamdani was sentenced to death on April 30, 2018, in a murder case on August 29, 2017. He killed his wife Nursiah binti Ibrahim, a midwife in Pidie District.

"We will chase the escaped inmates, and we have put them on the list of wanted persons," he remarked, adding that the arrested prisoners have been returned to Lambaro Prison.

As many as 113 prisoners escaped from Lambaro Prison on Nov 11 through the front window and the back fence of the prison.

Aceh Police Chief Inspector Gen. Rio S. Dampak has called on all inmates to surrender.
