"We warmly welcome foreign airlines that will open flight routes to Indonesia and give them equal treatment in accordance with the existing rules. We do not discriminate against airline companies, but we also do not give special treatment to them," Director General of Air Transportation Polana B. Pramesti noted in a written statement released on Tuesday.
Before operating in Indonesia, Vietjet must meet safety and security criteria in accordance with the Indonesian aviation law, she emphasized.
Vietjet must meet Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) 129 and Aircraft Operator Security Program (AOSP). To fly to and from Indonesia, Vietjet is also obliged to comply with Transportation Minister`s Regulation No. 25 of 2008, she noted.
"To secure an operation permit to fly to and from Jakarta, Vietjet can file an application with the Directorate General of Air Transportation through an online system," she remarked.
Pramesti affirmed that the Transportation Ministry will always welcome and facilitate foreign airlines` plan to open flight routes to Indonesia since the aviation sector has been recognized as one of the drivers of economic growth through related sectors, including tourism, trade, and business.
Vietjet is a Vietnamese airline company that the Government of Vietnam has officially appointed to fly to Indonesia in accordance with an air transport agreement based on the Indonesia-Vietnam bilateral agreement and ASEAN multilateral agreement.
