Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The National Police`s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) is still studying a recommendation from the Press Council regarding the content of Indonesia Barokah Tabloid, according to a police spokesman.

"We have received it, and a team of Ditpidum (Bareskrim`s Directorate of General Crimes) will study it first," Chief of the National Police`s Public Information Bureau Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo stated here on Wednesday.

The Press Council decided at its plenary meeting the day before that the Indonesia Barokah Tabloid does not meet the qualifications for press publication as set forth in Press Law Number 60 of 1999, the council`s regulation, and the journalistic code of ethics.

The council called on parties harmed by the tabloid to use other law than the press law since it is not press publication in terms of administration and content.

The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) has stated that the content of the tabloid does not violate the general elections. Nonetheless, it has continued to trace the circulation of the tabloid.

The board is teaming up with state postal firm PT Pos Indonesia and mosques to stop the circulation of the tabloid in several Islamic boarding schools and mosques, particularly in Jakarta, West Java, and Central Java.

The national campaign team of the Prabowo-Sandi pair called on relevant agencies to investigate the circulation of the tabloid that they considered tendentious and harmful to the duo.
