Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index (IHSG) opened higher on Wednesday on foreign capital inflows.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange increased 8.93 points, or 0.14 percent, to 6,445.41, and the index of the 45 most liquid stocks, or LQ45, rose 2.23 points, or 0.22 percent, to 1,017.75.

PT Indosurya Bersinar Sekuritas Director William Surya Wijaya remarked that the IHSG continued its rally since its current position is still at the start of 2019.

The IHSG`s uptrend is quite strong due to continued foreign capital inflows, he pointed out.

"This suggests that the potential (of the IHSG) to record an all-time high is increasingly wider. Of course, this is also supported by strong economic fundamentals," he noted.

Up until 9:25 a.m. local time, the IHSG was still within the green zone, strengthening 6.17 points, or 0.01 percent, to 6,442.38.

Regional markets, such as Nikkei recorded a decline of 109.88 points, or 0.53 percent, to 20,554.76; Hang Seng weakened 34.61 points, or 0.13 percent, to 27,497.07; and Straits Times rose 3.01 points, or 0.09 percent, to 3,190.7.
