"Alhamdulillah, today, NU is 93 years old. NU continues to strengthen the spirit of Indonesianness," Chairperson of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Robikin Emhas noted in a written statement on Thursday.
In addition to the president, Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian will be present, Emhas remarked.
All PWNUs and PCNUs across Indonesia, senior kiai and the masyayikh will also be present at the reception, titled "Organizational Consolidation Ahead of the NU Century."
"The total number of participants reached 1,498," Emhas, who is also chairman of the NU consolidation team, noted.
Emhas stated that on the 93rd day, NU reiterated that Indonesia was not a religion-based state. However, no Indonesian citizen may be religious.
NU also emphasized that Indonesia is not darul kufr, or an infidel state. NU views that Indonesia is a peace-loving, or peaceful country.
"Hence, no one can make Indonesia a darul harb or war zone, even on social media," he affirmed.
Organizational consolidation
After the reception, it was necessary to continue organizational consolidation that was followed by all PBNU functionaries comprising Mustasyar, A`wan, Syuriyah, Tanfidziyah, and all administrators of the NU Autonomy institutions and agencies.
"This time should offer a momentum for organizational consolidation at various levels, from the structure of PB, PW, PC, MWC, and branch, to the NU branch children," Emhas stated.
NU`s consolidation had begun in mid-2018, including structural consolidation, culture, and programs. This consolidation actively involved all stakeholders of Islamic boarding schools, kiai and masyayikh, as well as cultural NU figures.
Organizational consolidation aims to ensure that NU, both as jamiyah and pilgrims, is ready to meet a century of its birth on January 31, 2026.
