Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Presidential candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto offers a new strategy to build economic independency and improve people`s welfare.

"I offer a strategy that could bring prosperity and justice in a faster way," he said during the second round of presidential debate held at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta, Sunday night.

During the first segment of the debate, where candidates delivered their visions and missions, Subianto said three problems in the effort to build economic independence are sufficiency of food, energy and water.

Therefore, self-sufficiency in the three sectors is essential to encourage the country`s economic independence which is not depend on supplies from other countries.

"One criterion of a state`s success is able to fulfill the needs of its people for food, energy and water," Subianto noted.

Subianto said he would ensure food sufficiency with affordable prices if he win the presidential race.

"We also guarantee that farmers, ranchers and fishermen will get adequate income. That is our commitment," he added.

In addition, he also promised to reduce electricity tariffs, adjust prices of staple foods and ensure fertilizer supply for farmers.

These measures should be pursued to build independence and secure the economic resources of the Indonesian people which have not been enjoyed by the public so far, he claimed.

"Our main problem, wealth does not live in our republic. This is not anyone`s fault, this is our fault as a nation, so we are both looking for solutions to the problems," the former military general said.
