Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has stated that now is the time for Indonesian fishermen to benefit from the country`s marine resources thanks to the government`s success to crack down on illegal fishing.

In the past four years, the government has impounded some 7,000 foreign vessels for illegally fishing in the Indonesian waters, he said in the second round of presidential debate here on Sunday night.

He said 488 of the foreign fishing boats had been burned and sunk.

The second round of the presidential debate which started at 08.00 p.m. local time at Sultan Hotel in Jakarta raised the issues of infrastructure, energy and food, natural resources and the environment.
