Banjar, W Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has distributed micro credit (KUR) to 600 farmers in Miftahul Huda Islamic boarding school in Tasikmalaya District, West Java, on Wednesday.

"The government has run economic programs for the public. First, we have Mekaar (Fostering Economy for Prosperous Families) program. It is not a big loan, but a micro loan," the president stated at the distribution of KUR for agriculture and farming sector held at the Islamic boarding school.

Jokowi noted that the government has also run another program called ultra-micro credit to help smaller businesses.

He called on recipients of the loan to have good management and pay back the loan in installments. The loan should be used as a working capital.

"All of the loan should be used as working capital. If you can buy a shirt from your profit, go ahead," the president added.

According to Jokowi, the government has established micro endowment bank in 44 Islamic boarding schools.

Disbursement of micro loan in agriculture, farming, construction, and trade sector is aimed at encouraging the loan disbursement for productive sector and at the same time improving public prosperity.
