Lampung (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated a new terminal of the Radin Inten 2 Airport in Bandar Lampung and Silam Pari Airport in Lubuk Linggau, Lampung, on Friday.

"The first one is the Raden Inten 2 Airport. I have instructed the transportation minister that there should be international flights (in Radin Inten) within two weeks from now at the latest," Jokowi noted.

The management of the airports should be handed over to PT Angkasa Pura 2, and passengers should be provided better means of transportation, including airport trains, he remarked.

He expressed hope that the new infrastructure would help boost the economy of Lampung. Several sectors that could grow owing to transportation smoothness included tourism, business, and investment, he remarked while inaugurating the terminal.

The Radin Inten Airport, whose construction began in 2016, is built on a plot of land measuring 90 hectares and has a 1,200-meter runway.

In 2018, the airport`s passenger capacity reached 2.7 million people.

While in Lampung, Jokowi also inaugurated the 140.9-kilometer-long Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll road, the longest toll road that he has officiated so far.

"Yes, this is the longest toll road that we have ever inaugurated, as this is very long, up to Terbanggi Besar," Jokowi stated after officiating the toll road here, Friday.

In June 2019, the new toll road is expected to be connected up to Palembang, South Sumatra, reaching a total length of 350 kilometers.
