Sibolga (ANTARA) - Residents of Sibolga in North Sumatra were shocked by a suspected bomb explosion in Jalan KH Ahmad Dahlan, Gang Sekuntum, Pancuran Bambu Village, Sibolga Sambas District, Sibolga, on Tuesday.

Based on information gathered from the field, the explosion occurred from behind the door of a house.

The explosion injured several people, including police personnel who were injured when they tried to open the door of the house.

According to a local resident, Dohar Tua Alam Hutagalung, the explosion occurred at around 2:30 a.m. WIB.

"My ears were buzzing after the explosion, which injured several people, including an officer," he stated.

Meanwhile, Sibolga Regional Police Chief AKBP Edwin Hariandja could not be reached as he was busy.

Sibolga Regional Police Public Relations Sub-Section Head, Iptu R. Sormin, confirmed the incident. He could not provide much information as he seemed to be busy too.

"I'll be busy, as a team has come down from the headquarters," Sormin explained and immediately disconnected his cell phone.

From the information provided, it was evident that the police managed to arrest two people suspected of being the perpetrators of the explosion.
