Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA) - The North Sumatra Narcotic Office (BNN) has successfully foiled the trafficking of eight kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine circulated by the Malaysia-Asahan-Tanah Karo international syndicate.

Chief of BNN North Sumatra Brig. Gen. Atrial remarked that his office had also arrested seven suspects comprising traffickers and a driver, among others. Several of them were already inmates, who had managed to direct the drug trafficking operation from within the prison.

Two motorcycles, 11 handphones, cash amounting to Rp2,135,000, two bags, and a boat were also seized from the suspects.

One of the suspect, ESG, 46, a resident of Tanjung Balai Utara, North Sumatra, who has been serving a life term in Medan Prison, showed no remorse over his involvement in drug trafficking.
