Denpasar (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo referred to the Badung People's Market in Denpasar City, Bali, as the best architectural market he has ever seen. "What is seen from the front is the best architectural market I've ever seen," said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during the Grand Opening of the Badung People's Market in Bali on Friday.

President Jokowi claimed to be happy to see the Badung Market because it is a heritage market, portraying Balinese cultural heritage.

The former DKI Governor was also pleased to see the video aired during the grand opening of the Badung Market.

"It was clean, regulated, the management was regulated and the traders were the same," he said.

Jokowi stressed that not only was the market clean, the traders too were asked to appear clean and neat.

"Clean clothes ensure there are no muddy, smelly and dirty markets," he said.

In this way, Jokowi said people's markets that use the "cashless" transaction method can compete with modern markets.

"The people's market should be able to compete with malls, hypermarkets and supermarkets. I am sure it can as long as the intention is there," he said.

On the occasion of the grand opening of the market, which had burned down a few years ago, President Jokowi was accompanied by a number of officials including Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs AAGN Puspayoga.

Also present were the Governor of Bali, Mangku Pastika; Mayor of Denpasar Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra; and regional officials.
