"Do not pressure by scaring the people or the government. Everything has its mechanism," Jokowi said after holding a campaign event in Sorong, West Papua, on Monday evening.
Sorong, West Papua (ANTARA) - Incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has made an outright appeal to not trigger panic among members of the public during this festival of democracy.

"Do not pressurize by scaring the people or the government. A mechanism is in place for everything," Jokowi remarked after conducting a campaign event in Sorong, West Papua, on Monday evening.

The National Mandate Party's (PAN's) senior politician, Amien Rais, remarked that the 313 (March 31) roll call was held to refresh the public's memory of the importance of avoiding any likely frauds during the general election process.

Rais, who joined the National Campaign Team (BPN) of the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair, has made an outright proclamation to call for a mobilization of the masses if electoral fraud were to occur.

"All is regulated in line with the laws and regulations. In case of any alleged fraud, please bring it to the notice of Bawaslu (the Election Supervisory Agency). There is a mechanism in place," Jokowi remarked.

The head of state affirmed that the public should promptly notify the police apparatus in case of a crime. Democracy should make the people happy and merry. Do not scare people who are happy, Jokowi emphasized.

Indonesia will hold nationwide simultaneous legislative and presidential elections on April 17, 2019.

Of Indonesia's population totaling 260 million, more than 192 million have been registered as illegible voters.

The 2019 presidential election is viewed by many as a rematch of the contentious presidential battle in 2014 during which Jokowi and Subianto had contested.
