"We hope the economy grows by more than six percent in 2020,"
Batam (ANTARA) (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) was hopeful that Indonesia's economy would grow by more than six percent in 2020 as a result of the hard work of all the stakeholders.

"We hope the economy grows by more than six percent in 2020," Apindo chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani said during his opening remarks at the national coordination and work meeting of Apindo.

The Association is introducing a national economic working plan aimed at increasing economic growth, which will be submitted to the government in October 2019.

Apindo's coordination meeting held in Batam had the theme, "Increasing Competitiveness through Labor Reform and National Production Output".

Stating that certain developing countries had succeeded in becoming developed countries and boosting their economic growth by significantly increasing national production, Sukamdani argued that handling labor issues optimally and increasing the output of national production could boost the national economy.

Regarding concerns over the demand for national products, he was optimistic that the entire national production output would be absorbed in domestic and foreign markets, as had been done in China.

On the other hand, Apindo also highlighted other problems that currently hinder the national economy, including non-optimal labor absorption.

"Total labor reforms are needed in the near future in order to increase national production output, which in turn will boost the economy," he said.
