Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - No less than 380 locals took refuge on higher ground after floods, caused by incessant downpour, lashed four sub-districts in Bandung District, West Java Province, Thursday.

The evacuated residents comprised children and people with disabilities, senior citizens, and expectant mothers, Sudrajat, head of emergency and logistics affairs of the Bandung disaster mitigation office, stated here, Thursday.

The four sub-districts of Baleendah, Dayeuhkolot, Bojongsoang, and Banjaran were inundated due to the flooding.

In Dayeuhkolot Sub-district, the evacuee count reached 187, and two buildings were used to house those affected by the flooding. In Baleenda Sub-district, 193 people took refuge in Inkanas Building.

In Dayeuhkoloty, the floodwaters reached a height of nearly 170 cm and close to 160 cm high in Bojongsoang.

The flooding triggered traffic snarls in various regions in Bandung District.
