Nunukan (ANTARA) - Police of the Sebatik Timur area in Nunukan district, North Kalimantan, had arrested a Malaysian national for entering the Indonesian territory without immigration document.

The 27-year old Malaysian named Mohd Alwi bin Mohd Ismail was already sent to the Nunukan immigration office on Saturday (April 6) at about 1 pm local time.

Head of the Supervision and Execution Section of the Nunukan Immigration Office Bimo Mardi Wibowo clarified the case on Sunday.

The Malaysian citizen was handed over by an officer of Sei Pancang immigration post in Sebatik Utara sub district, he said, adding that the Malaysian only had an identity card.

Bimo pointed out that the Malaysian national was suspected of violating Law No 6, 2011, Article 112 and Article 119.

"The Malaysian national entered the Indonesian territory without passing the immigration check point and is in Indonesia without an immigration document," he noted.

Meanwhile, the arrest said that he left Tawau port alone on Saturday (April 6) as he wanted to see his sick grandmother in Tarakan City.
