Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - Incumbent presidential candidate Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is hopeful of securing 80 percent votes in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.

“During the 2014 presidential election, the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla pair had won 66 percent votes in East Nusa Tenggara. In this 2019 election, Insyaallah (in God’s will), it will be at least 80 percent votes for me,” Jokowi noted in his speech at the rally at the Sitarda Lasiana Square in Kupang City, NTT, on Monday.

Jokowi's high hopes of bagging 80 percent votes rest on a survey and his team's calculation.

The head of state believes that the NTT residents would vote in his favor owing to the progress apparent in the form of the region's infrastructure development along with several dams soon scheduled for inauguration.

“If I get more than 80 percent votes, I will be returning here soon,” Jokowi affirmed.

Chief of the rally's committee and vice chairman of the Regional Campaign Team (TKD) for Jokowi-Ma'ruf Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena remarked that Jokowi’s open rally today was currently attended by some 30 thousand people.

Supporters and volunteers of presidential candidates Jokowi-Ma'ruf came from Kupang City, Kupang District, Belu District, Malaka, North Central Timor, and South Central Timor.

The 2019 presidential election on Apr 17 will be a two-horse contest between number 01 Incumbent President Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin and number 02 Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno.
